Shania Twain has received her very own Barbie doll in honour of this year’s International Women’s Day (Friday, 8 March).

Depicting the singer from her iconic Man… I Feel Like A Woman music video, the doll isn’t just adorable but genuinely honours Twain’s impact and artistry. The doll is dressed all in black, wearing a flowing black coat, and, as Twain herself shows in a photo posing with the doll, it even comes with a microphone.

Posting images of herself and her new Barbie doll to social media, Twain wrote in a heartfelt caption, “Ladies and gentlemen... HER I am honoured to be recognised as a Barbie role model - I have my own one-of-a-kind Barbie doll!! Pinch me!!

“All I've wanted to do my whole life is tell stories of empowerment, independence and self-expression through my songwriting, getting to do that and inspire women and girls along the way is the dream... everything else is a beautiful bonus! It means a lot to expand my responsibility as a role model into the Barbie world, thank you Barbie and Mattel for creating this reflection of me. I love her!!”

Twain has received the doll not just for International Women’s Day but also for being “one of music and fashion’s most renowned trailblazers breaking down barriers for women in country music” and “the top-selling female country pop artist of all time.”

In addition to Twain, singer Kylie Minogue, actress Viola Davis, and more have received their own Barbie dolls.

In a press statement, Krista Berger, the Senior Vice President of Barbie and Global Head of Dolls said about today’s announcement, “Barbie’s story has never been just about her. It’s about the countless young kids she’s inspired and the millions of stories she helped them imagine along the way.”
