BEFORE YOU READ ON It is important to know that we are not like many other radio stations. Hot Country & Top Country are licensed as "narrowcast" services. This means that they are generally not allowed to transmit as powerful a signal as regular commercial and community radio stations. This means you might not be able to get as good in-building coverage as you do with other stations. Our signal generally does not reach as far or penetrate as far in to buildings as regular radio stations. You should still be able to enjoy Hot Country or Top Country in the town you live in just as long as our signal is licensed to your town. Continue reading on to see if your town is included; DARWIN NT - Darwin CBD, Inner suburbs, Northern Suburbs (there is some interference around Jingili/Anula./Millner/Moil due to the position of the airport. Other problem areas include Fannie Bay, Palmerston, the Rural Area. You may pick us up quite well in Mandoorah and Channel Island though. WOLLONGONG - Most areas of Wollongong south of Bulli. You may have fortuitous coverage on the northern beaches but generally we don't expect full coverage below Warrawong or north of Bulli. You may also experience coverage issues as you move closer to the shadow of the escarpment. GEELONG - Central Geelong, Corio, Norlane, south Geelong and Waurn Ponds. Fortuitous coverage on the Bellarine Peninsula and higher areas of Torquay. NOWRA - Quite good coverage across most of the Shoalhaven up to around Shellharbour with some dropouts around Gerringong and areas in the shadow of hills or the escarpment. Quite good coverage in to Berry and Milton but only fortuitous coverage in to Ulladulla. BOWRAL - Quite good coverage around Bowral and Mittagong. Some coverage in to Moss Vale, Berrima. MUSWELLBROOK - Central Muswellbrook only. CANBERRA - Central Canberra, Mitchell, most of Belconnen, Woden, Weston Creek and lower Gungahlin. Coverage is not guaranteed in Tuggeranong, but can sometimes reach through. Generally good coverage in Queanbeyan. GOULBURN - The general Goulburn area. COOMA - central Cooma and most streets in the town. JINDABYNE - Town centre only and surrounding streets. BAROSSA - Generally only the town of Barossa, but some fortuitous coverage in to other nearby towns. PERTH - Digital radio coverage only within the greater Perth metropolitan area. CANBERRA DIGITAL - Good coverage on digital radio only across most of Canberra with some fortuitous coverage in to Tuggeranong DARWIN DIGITAL - Good coverage in to inner Darwin and all northern suburbs. Some issues around Fannie Bay, but otherwise clear to Palmerston and in to the greater Darwin rural region. FAR SOUTH COAST NSW - Only in the towns covered such as Bega, Tathra, Bermagui, Narooma, Eden, Batemans Bay, Merimbula, Pambula, Moruya. Some fortuitous coverage between towns, but coverage is mostly limited to the town centres. Good radio reception is dependent on signal strength and the type of radio receiver and antenna used by the listener. Signal strength can vary greatly with the distance from the radio transmitter and in different environments such as built up, wooded or hilly areas. FM Radio
Listeners should also note that FM radio signals travel in almost straight lines and are unable to travel over or penetrate large obstructions, consequently parts of a coverage area may have a weak signal particularly in hilly terrain or highly built up urban areas. AM Radio
Listeners who continue to experience electrical interference to their radio reception may want to contact a local electrician or technician who can recommend a suitable mains filter to reduce the problem. |
