Canadian country trailblazers The Washboard Union are heading down under for the very first time this October, bringing their high-energy live show, rich harmonies, and a brand-new single along for the ride.

The JUNO Award winners, 9-time CCMA winners, and platinum-selling trio will mark their Australian debut with a run of east coast shows, including feature performances at Savannah in the Round and SXSW Sydney. Their visit also coincides with the release of their brand new single, Somebody To Love, out October 3.

Known for their genre-defying sound, massive harmonies, and undeniable stage presence, The Washboard Union are widely considered one of Canada’s top country acts. With over 85 million streams, nine Top 10 hits, one platinum and four gold singles, and more than 35 award wins under their belt, the group has long been celebrated in their home country. Now, they’re ready to take their music global and Australia is first on the map.

“As a band we always dreamed that our music would take us across the world and now it is. We can't wait for these first shows and for our new music to come out in a country full of Country music fans like Australia,” said Chris Duncombe of The Washboard Union.

Their new single Somebody To Love is a soulful anthem “dedicated to the hopeless romantic in all of us and our search for that ‘one’ who was meant for each and every one of us.” Produced by Dave “Dwave” Thomson (Lady A, Lights, Jake Mathews) alongside the band, and written by Duncombe with Jamie Floyd, Jimmy Thow and Thomson, the song is driven by The Washboard Union’s signature vocal blend and an instantly familiar chorus that begs for a singalong.

Fans heading to the shows can expect a mix of the band’s biggest hits, heartfelt ballads, and plenty of feel-good moments, all delivered with the energy and musicianship that’s made them a festival favourite across North America.

Before their Aussie adventure kicks off, The Washboard Union will be celebrating at home in Kelowna, BC during Canadian Country Music Week. Along with a performance at CCMA House they’re also nominated once again for Group of the Year, a title they've claimed multiple times.
