James Johnston is officially turning up the heat on his career with the announcement of his second album, WHERE YOU’LL FIND ME, set to drop on October 24 via Warner Music Australia. He’s also given us a taste of what’s to come by releasing a new single, the title track, today. And if that’s not enough, he’s fired up an Australian tour for 2025 to bring every song to life live.
Known for electrifying storytelling and an authenticity that cuts through, Johnston has already made a serious splash here and overseas. Whether it’s South Africa, the UK, or the States, his music spreads feel-good energy designed for both radio and festival stages.
With WHERE YOU’LL FINE ME, he’s leaning right into that global vibe, melding bright modern country hooks with raw emotional undercurrents. He’s been building the album with powerhouse collaborators, including mentor Morgan Evans (co-writing two tracks) and producer Jared Adlam. As Johnston puts it, “It’s rare you find people that are really aligned with you. I just got to hang out with my buddies and it’s by far the most fun I’ve ever had making music.”
The new single reflects that vibe in full force. Johnston describes writing it on a Brisbane patio so loud the neighbours chimed in, “We wrote this out on the back patio, the whole neighbourhood could hear us, we were loud. Luckily, I’m good friends with the neighbours on both sides so they literally texted me as we were making this song.” says Johnston. “I wanted to capture that feeling, that we’re out in the country we love.” It’s a warm, unfiltered shot of what he loves: dirt bikes, campfires, mates and no place else he’d rather be.
Along with the album launch, Johnston is taking WHERE YOU’LL FIND ME on tour across Australia in 2025. Starting at Gympie Music Muster on August 31, he’ll then hit all the hotspots including Brisbane, Sydney, Mareeba, Sunshine Coast, Newcastle, Perth, Hobart, Darwin and Canberra. Tickets launch Monday, August 25, so fans can lock in their front-row spot early.
Johnston’s already a country heavyweight, with accolades like Golden Guitars, Countrytown Awards, ARIA nominations, and millions of streams. His debut album RAISED LIKE THAT went platinum and dominated charts for 26 weeks. But it’s his live shows on stages like CMC Rocks, Tamworth, Savannah, Gympie and Meatstock that really earned him a reputation as one of Australia’s most dynamic country voices.
