It’s a massive day for fans of country music, with the newly-announced Strummingbird festival locking in some of the genre’s biggest names for this year’s premiere event.
Presented by Kicks Entertainment and Live Nation, Strummingbird is shaping up to be a modern take on country music culture, with the event just last week revealing it would be making its debut in late October and early November, with dates scheduled for the Sunshine Coast, Newcastle, and Perth.
Now, after teasing the arrival of the line-up (and plenty of speculation), organisers have revealed that two of modern country’s biggest names are set to make an appearance, with the likes of Jelly Roll and Shaboozey leading the charge with their debut visits to the country.
In addition to the headliners, Strummingbird has secured an impressive array of international and local talent, including acts such as Treaty Oak Revival, James Johnston, Kaylee Bell, Julia Cole, The Dreggs, Wade Forster, Denvah, and more.
While Jelly Roll has been in the game for over two decades now, his profile has risen considerably in recent years, with 2023's Whitsitt Chapel hitting No. 3 in his native US, and 2024's Beautifully Broken topping the same chart.
Meanwhile, Shaboozey has also been climbing ranks in recent years, with the eyes of the world turning upon him thanks to his breakthrough 2024 album Where I've Been, Isn't Where I'm Going and its global chart-topping single A Bar Song (Tipsy).
Shaboozey and Jelly Roll also joined forces earlier this year on the song Amen, though it’s unclear whether their sharing a line-up might result in any onstage collabs yet.
Beyond the music, fans of Strummingbird can expect a full country music festival atmosphere, complete with line dancing, BBQ, bespoke merch, and a honky-tonk-inspired pop-up alley including a mechanical bull.
Strummingbird is the latest brainchild from the team behind Spilt Milk, one of Australia’s most successful festivals, and looks set to tap into a growing appetite for country music down under.
Whether you're a die-hard fan or new to the genre, organisers promise a welcoming, high-energy experience.
Tickets to the inaugural edition of Strummingbird go on sale from Friday, August 8th, with a pre-sale kicking off the day prior on Thursday, August 7th.
