As US musician Jordan Davis nears the end of his Australian tour, the Louisiana native has announced a change to the final date of his local trek.
Kicking off his tour of Australia and New Zealand with a performance in Auckland on Thursday, March 19th, Davis has spent the last week traversing the land Down Under, performing at CMC Rocks in Ipswich over the weekend, Sydney's Qudos Bank Arena on Tuesday, and will visit Melbourne's Rod Laver Arena this evening.
However, Perth’s wild weather has necessitated a shift for the final date of the tour, with Davis performing in the Western Australian capital on Saturday, March 28th.
Initially scheduled to take place at the outdoor Ice Cream Factory, RAC Arena have now stepped in to provide figurative and literal shelter from the storm.
For those unaware of the WA weather situation, the north-western part of the state has been dealing with the arrival of severe Tropical Cyclone Narelle.
As the ABC reports, it's a weather event which hasn't been seen since Tropical Cyclone Seroja 2021. While Tropical Cyclone Narelle is currently labelled as a category three storm, it's expected to be upgraded to category four today, with a chance of it being further upgraded to category five.
Despite the impending weather, Davis’ show is still set to go ahead on Saturday, albeit undercover at RAC Arena. The full line-up is still set to take place as well, with Davis being joined by Tucker Wetmore, Vincent Mason, and Australian performer Rachael Fahim at the show.
Additionally, the moving of the previously sold-out gig to RAC Arena has also resulted in a limited allocation of new tickets being released as well. Those tickets are on sale now.
Speaking to Countrytown ahead of his tour last year, Davis joked about what audiences – and his support acts – can expect from his run of Australian gigs.
“Tucker and Vincent better get ready,” Davis jokes. “I’m passing [the shoeys] off to the young guns.” That said, he’s not ruling himself out. “Don’t get me wrong, I love a good old shoey. I’m going to start my shoey conditioning about two weeks out, so I’ll be primed.”
