Luke Combs has officially been named the second highest-selling country artist ever, only behind the legendary Garth Brooks, and he’s not far off from catching him.
As American Songwriter reports, Combs has sold a total of 155.5 million units. As a vinyl and CD bestseller and a highly streamed artist, it’s not all that surprising to see Combs crack the hundreds-of-millions mark.
With that impressive number, Combs is just seven million units from taking Garth Brooks’ crown and becoming the best-selling country artist of all time. To date, Brooks has 162.5 million units to his name.
Combs is already part of a prestigious crew of artists who have sold over 150 million RIAA-certified units. He shares the spotlight with mainstream pop and hip-hop artists such as Taylor Swift, Eminem, Rihanna, Beyoncé, and Drake. If Combs overtakes Brooks, he won’t just become the biggest name in country but an all-conquering force in music history.
In addition to selling 155.5 million units, Combs has secured massive radio hits, multiple awards, and certifications. He has nineteen #1 hits to his name, two CMA Awards, and recently amassed four new RIAA certifications.
Combs’ single She Got The Best Of Me is now certified Diamond, while his songs Beautiful Crazy, Beer Never Broke My Heart, and When It Rains It Pours have been certified fourteen-times, eight-times, and twelve-times Platinum, respectively.
Combs could have another hit on his hands soon, as the singer-songwriter confirmed that he’d returned to the studio last month and hinted at Easter eggs for his fans throughout a video posted on social media.
Also in May, Combs discussed why his touring schedule this year looks lighter than previous years. The reason is simple: he wants to be a good dad and spend time with his young children.
Combs has scaled back from his usual rigorous touring schedule to focus on his family. “I want to be home with my kids,” he shared in a new interview with People. “I want to see my kids grow up, and I want them to know that they’re important to me.”
