Miranda Lambert Calls Out Fans For Taking A Selfie During Her Show: ‘It’s Pissing Me Off’

Miranda Lambert stopped her show during her Las Vegas residency to address fans who were taking selfies.

Lambert was in the midst of an intimate performance of Tin Man, her 2016 hit from The Weight Of These Wings, when she called out the distracted fans posing for a photo.

“I’m gonna stop right here for a second, I’m sorry,” she told the crowd. “These girls are worried about their selfie and not listening to the song. It’s pissing me off a little bit.”

After noting that she did not like their behaviour “at all,” she continued as members of the audience cheered and applauded, “We’re here to hear some country music tonight. I’m singing some country damn music.”

Although some applauded Lambert’s decision, the incident caused others to leave the show early. In the TikTok video, one person says, “Let’s go. You don’t do that to fans.”

Others took to Twitter to slam Lambert and express their disapproval.

“Why is she being mean, the gorlies [sic] are just having a good night,” one person wrote. “I think her reaction was a bit rude and uncalled for,” another added, while a third chimed in, “Now you can’t take pictures at concerts? These people need to get off their high horse.”

Another Twitter user said that the fans were being “obnoxious and immature” by taking selfies, though Lambert should have “let them be.”

“You should be able to take a picture during a concert without the performer scolding you from the stage,” another person wrote. “This is a treat most people don’t get to have very often, so if they want to take a few pictures what’s the problem?”

However, others took Lambert’s side. “I would’ve done the same thing,” one person wrote. “You pay all that money to see the singer, but here you are looking at your phone.”

“It’s so sad that this generation experiences things only so they can watch it on their phones later,” another commented. “Stop going to concerts and being on your phone the whole time, you’re there now just enjoy it while you’re there and you won’t forget it.”

Additionally, another replied, “How can you even disrespect Tin Man like this? This is one of those songs that have gotten me through the hardest times of my life. Literally. I couldn’t stop crying long enough to even hold my phone if I wanted to.”

Someone else said, “There’s all the time in the world to partake in those activities during her rowdier, more up-tempo numbers but during her sacred ballads just shut up and listen. Not exactly asking for much when there’s very few on her setlist.”

This isn’t the first time that Lambert has stopped her show to address her fans. In 2016, she stopped a show “refusing to play Vice until everyone shuts up and listens.”

Lambert has not yet publicly responded to the backlash.
