Morgan Evans Drops ‘Steel Town’ Album, Shares Stirring Video For Title Track

It’s a good time to be a Morgan Evans fan, with the Novocastrian country singer today unleashing his long-awaited album, Steel Town.

First announced back in October, the record was preceded by the news that Evans had entered a new era in his career, having signed with Virgin Music Group as he began to preview his first new music since 2023.

Titled Steel Town in honour of his New South Wales childhood home, the record is his first in seven years – following on from 2018’s Things That We Drink To, which won the ARIA Award for Best Country Album in 2019.

As Evans explained, the process to crafting his new music was all related to a newfound connection with those earliest days.

“That all starts with me going back to my hometown and reconnecting with my roots – where I came from and who I used to be … and who I still want to be,” Evans explained. “It felt like the sky was falling down and the walls were caving in, but when I got back home, it was such a good, grounding thing.

“I’m sure it is for everyone when they go back to their hometown.”

Alongside the record’s release, Evans has also shared the official music video for the track, which captures live footage of the track’s debut performance at Newcastle’s Howlin Festival last month. Pairing it with archival footage of the town, it’s a moving, full-circle moment for Evans.

With his new album out in the world, Evans is currently over in the US, where he’s making a return to the circle at Nashville’s Grand Ole Opry on Friday, March 20th (US time).

Aussie fans will get a chance to celebrate the album with Evans in May, when he launches his Steel Town tour, with Laci Kaye Booth in tow.

“Hopefully people can feel it for themselves, and I hope it makes everyone want to come out to a show,” Evans says. “Come drink a beer and raise it up with me, let’s toast it all.”

Morgan Evans’ Steel Town is out now, and tickets to his forthcoming tour are on sale now.
