Morgan Wallen has addressed his controversial exit from Saturday Night Live earlier this year, admitting that he was “just ready to go home.”
In late March, Wallen was the special guest musical performer on Saturday Night Live and played two songs from his upcoming album, I’m The Problem. At the end of the show, as is customary, he joined the episode’s cast to farewell the audience.
He then whispered something in guest host Mikey Madison’s ear, hugged her, and abruptly walked off the stage before the credits rolled. After his early departure from the SNL studio, Wallen took to his Instagram Stories and shared a post that showed him next to a private plane, writing, “Get me to God’s country.”
Wallen made headlines for leaving the studio early and subsequently releasing “Get me to God’s country” merchandise.
In a recent interview, Wallen addressed the SNL controversy. He appeared on Sundae Conversations with Caleb Pressley, who asked, “Could you fix a TV if it was on SNL?”
Wallen responded, “I could change it, for sure.”
Questioning the singer about his abrupt exit from the SNL studio, Pressley then asked, “Seriously, SNL, did they make you mad?”
Wallen replied, “No, no, I was just ready to go home. I’d been there all week.”

Morgan Wallen’s new album, I’m The Problem, will be released this Friday (16 May). The album release coincides with Wallen’s inaugural music festival, Sand In My Boots, which will take place in Gulf Shores, Alabama, on 16-18 May.
The singer said of his forthcoming album, “I have been a problem, for sure, and I’ve got no problem admitting that. But there are other sides to me as well.
“I’ve spent the last 11 months really trying to figure out, ‘Do I still want to be the problem? Is it time to move past that phase in my life?’ I think it probably is, and this might be the last time I get a chance to honestly say it.”
