Things took a sudden turn at Riley Green’s second Melbourne show when a fan threw a mobile phone from the crowd, hitting the country star directly in the face.

The incident happened during Green’s performance at Margaret Court Arena as part of his Cowboy As It Gets Tour, briefly stopping the show as the singer processed what had just happened.

The phone struck Green near his ear, with a trail of blood quickly running down his neck following the impact.

Green paused the performance momentarily while the crew rushed to assist, wiping away the blood with a hand towel as the crowd looked on. Despite the shock moment, the Alabama singer quickly addressed the situation from the stage and made it clear the behaviour wouldn’t be tolerated.

The fan responsible for throwing the phone was immediately removed from the venue.

After the brief interruption, Green shook it off and continued the show determined not to let the incident derail the night for the thousands of fans who were there to see him.

Green continues his Australian run of shows with two performances in Sydney at the Horden Pavillion on Monday and Tuesday night, before heading up to Queensland to headline the Friday  night of CMC Rocks QLD.
