After a year stacked with chart-topping singles, viral moments, and career-defining performances, Shaboozey is showing no signs of slowing down. This week, the genre-blurring country star announced the launch of his very own record label, American Dogwood, a bold next move in his already boundary-pushing journey.
Launched in partnership with EMPIRE, Shaboozey’s longtime label home, American Dogwood aims to amplify a new generation of storytellers who refuse to fit into a single box. The label will be led alongside two of his trusted collaborators, Jared Cotter and Abas Pauti, who bring years of experience managing multi-platinum artists.
“American Dogwood is a tribute to where we come from, and to the artists, storytellers, and creators who make this life remarkable,” said Shaboozey. “Our mission is to nurture the next generation of voices and to give them a place to grow, connect, and create. This is the beginning of a new chapter – one I hope always feels like home.”
The label’s first signing is Kevin Powers, an emerging force who made waves in Nashville with early viral hits Walked In and How You Been?, and later co-wrote Amen, Shaboozey’s 2025 collab with Jelly Roll that earned over 50 million streams in just three months.
Powers, who calls his sound “Southern Pop,” blends country, hip-hop, and emotional storytelling in a way that makes perfect sense under the American Dogwood banner.
To mark the launch, Shaboozey and Powers announced a new single, Move On, will be out September 19. The track leans into themes of heartbreak and letting go, with Powers sharing:
“My first release, Move On featuring Shaboozey, is about what happens when a relationship ends - how some people can let go, while others hold on longer than they should. It’s a story I think a lot of people will connect with, and I couldn’t imagine a better way to begin this journey than sharing it with Shaboozey by my side.”
The timing couldn’t be more perfect. Shaboozey is fresh off the deluxe edition of Where I’ve Been, Isn’t Where I’m Going, which included new features from Myles Smith and Sierra Ferrell, and his second Billboard Country Airplay #1 with Good News. His breakout hit A Bar Song (Tipsy) went 8x Platinum, and this spring saw him play major sets at both Coachella and Stagecoach firmly cementing his place in country music’s new era.
Next up is The Great American Roadshow Tour, kicking off September 22 in Indianapolis, IN, with Kevin Powers joining as the official opener. The tour will hit some of Shaboozey’s biggest venues yet, running through cities like Philadelphia and Nashville before wrapping in Florida.
As for American Dogwood, it’s more than just a label. It’s a mission: to create a space rooted in authenticity, built on artist ownership, and inspired by the storytelling traditions of Shaboozey’s Virginia roots.
With Move On introducing the label’s vision and Powers already making waves, American Dogwood is poised to be a major player in country music’s next chapter.
