Get your boots ready South Australia. From the minds behind the Beer & BBQ Festival, Out On The Weekend, and Pirate Life Brewing comes a brand new independent music and lifestyle festival: Take Me Home. A celebration of all things country, western, and Americana, this one-day event is set to take over Pirate Life Brewery in Port Adelaide on Sunday, October 12th.
Forget everything you think you know about country music festivals. Take Me Home is part honky-tonk throwdown, part laid-back Sunday session. Expect a highly curated lineup that blends classic country twang with alt-country, Americana grit and some serious good vibes. With two outdoor stages, food trucks, local markets, and Pirate Life’s finest ales on pour, it’s shaping up to be one of the most exciting new additions to the Australian music calendar.
Leading the lineup is none other than Nikki Lane making her long-awaited return to Australia after 11 years and performing in South Australia for the very first time. Known for her signature mix of vintage country flair and rock n roll edge, Lane is a bona fide outlaw queen and the perfect act to headline a festival that dares to do things differently.
She’s joined by Y.O.G.A. the latest project from Reuben Styles of Peking Duk. Y.O.G.A is a genre-blurring, mind-bending live experience that Styles describes as “Cow Tech.” What exactly does that mean? You’ll just have to be there when he closes out the night to find out.
Also making their South Australian debut is The Linda Ronstadt Show featuring Ella Hooper yes, from Killing Heidi and an all-star band paying homage to the iconic 70s sounds of Ronstadt herself. Expect soaring vocals and all the hits from Blue Bayou to Tumblin’ Dice delivered with the heart and flair they deserve.
Also from the USA, Laid Back Country Picker & Honey bring their barn-burning blend of 70s guitar licks and honky-tonk grooves. If Waylon Jennings and Lemmy jammed with the White Stripes, you’d be somewhere in the ballpark. Also making his Australian debut is Texan troubadour Vincent Neil Emerson, whose raw lyricism and dusty charm have earned comparisons to the greats.
Rounding out the bill is a strong showing of South Australian talent including Matt Ward & The Southern Kind, Ryan Martin John, Mark Curtis & The Flannelettes, Tin Town, The Flying Squad, and Ned Baulderstone proof that the local Americana and alt-country scene is thriving in its own right.
Take Me Home is an all-ages event with tickets starting at just $59. Pre-sale goes live at 9:30am on Wednesday, July 2 for General Admission, Pirate Life, and Love Police mailing list subscribers, with general public tickets available from 9:30am on Friday, July 4 via Moshtix.
