We’re rapidly closing in on two years since Post Malone made his country debut with the release of F-1 Trillion, and while it’s not unusual for artists to take some time between records, Posty has been teasing a follow-up for some time now.
This past week, the genre-swapping musician announced that his forthcoming album appears to be closer than ever before, so let’s take a look back at all of the updates he’s made since turning his attention towards country music a few years ago.
June 2022
Speaking to Howard Stern, Posty admitted his love of country music can take many forms, with the possibility of a full record happening in the future. “There’s nothing stopping me from taking a camera, or setting up in my studio in Utah, and just recording a country album, and me just putting it on fucking YouTube,” he said.
Admitting there could be “some repercussions afterward from the label,” he noted he’s more than happy to keep making a blend of pop and hip hop, but expressed his desire to undertake a stylistic shift. “If I get another year to myself, maybe I’ll make a fucking country album.”
September 2023
Two months after releasing his Austin album (named for his birth moniker, not the city, mind you), Post Malone was added to the line-up of 2024’s Stagecoach Festival, where he was confirmed to be playing a special set of country covers.
March 2024
Beyoncé unveiled her own country album by way of Cowboy Carter. Featuring musicians like Shaboozey, Dolly Parton, Willie Nelson, and more, it also featured Post Malone on the cut Levii's Jeans.
April 2024
As promised, Post Malone’s Stagecoach set took place with covers of acts like Randy Travis, George Strait, Toby Keith, and Vince Gill. Additionally, Sara Evans, Dwight Yoakam, and Braid Paisley all turned up to help him cover their own original songs.
May 2024
Fresh from his Stagecoach appearance, Posty dropped his single I Had Some Help. A collab with Morgan Wallen, the track was a phenomenal success, topping charts around the world, and scoring nominations at the Grammys, and even the CMA Awards and the Academy Of Country Music Awards.
August 2024
Malone drops his F-1 Trillion record, with its 18 tracks being complemented by the arrival of the nine-track Long Bed edition just hours later.
Featuring collaborations with Tim McGraw, Jelly Roll, Billy Strings, Dolly Parton, Blake Shelton, Hank Williams Jr., and more, the record was a massive success for the musician, hitting the top of the Aussie Country chart (and peaking at No. 2 on the overall Albums chart), and topping charts around the world.
It even scored a Grammy nomination for Best Country Album, which was likely not on Posty’s bingo card when he kicked off his career.
April 2025
After months spent promoting F-1 Trillion, he spoke to Billboard while backstage at Coachella, with the publication noting that Malone has already made two trips to Nashville for his forthcoming album. “[I’ve] made probably 35 songs; it’s just a matter of which one’s rock, and which one’s sock,” he explained.
May 2025
Malone’s guitarist Derek Wells opened up about what was next for the musician, explaining that while F-1 Trillion was more focused on 21st century country, his next record would be more in the vein of ‘80s era acts like George Jones and George Strait.
"Performing country music is an entirely different discipline and requires an entirely different vocal delivery from working in pop," Wells explained. "Moving away from having his voice saturated with vocal effects and treatments has him really working, especially onstage, to deliver a quality show every night.
"There's also more fiddle, pedal steel, guitar solos. Where we started as two feet over the line into traditional country on F-1 Trillion has turned into head, chest, shoulders and feet across the line on where we're headed with the next batch of songs."
December 2025
Just before the end of the year, Malone took part in a lengthy live stream where he spoke about ending the musical dry spell that he provided in 2025.
Speaking to his fans, he noted that his new album would instead likely be split into two. “Chances are, chat, we are getting two albums in 2026”, he explained, adding, “If everything goes my way”.
April 2026
Only a matter of weeks ago, Posty took to Instagram where he shared an image of a whiteboard emblazoned with the name The Eternal Buzz, which outlined it was a double record which would feature a total of 40 songs spread across the two discs.
"Coming soon," he teased in the caption.
May 2026
Weeks after teasing the new record, Posty revealed he would be postponing the start of his Big Ass Stadium Tour so that he could continue wrapping up the record he was working on.
“Looking at the upcoming schedule after Stagecoach,” Malone wrote on social media, “I came to the realization that what we’re trying to do, and what’s possible, isn’t really lining up. The truth is, I promised y’all beautiful people new music, and I don’t have the time to finish it before tour starts.
“We ain’t ready for tour just yet, so I’m making the decision to push the tour back about 3 weeks to get this music done.”
“That being said,” he continued, “I’m so sorry to the folks who were planing on coming to the few canceled shows. I was looking forward to going nuts with y’all. That THAT being said, we been making some badass shit for this double album… and I can’t wait to perform for y’all again.”
Thankfully, this postponement didn’t affect his Aussie tour, which he announced later that month.
June 2026
Speaking to fans in Charlotte, North Carolina earlier this month, Posty gave the latest update on the record, explaining that it’s almost at the finish line.
“I understand it's been a minute since some new music,” he told fans. “This new record is 99% fucking done, and I can't wait for everybody to fucking listen to it.”
October 2026
Sure, this one is in the future, but Post Malone will launch the Australian and New Zealand legs of his Big Ass World Tour in October. Alongside appearances at the Strummingbird Festival, he’ll be joined by Don Toliver while on his latest trek.
Tickets to those shows are on sale now, and hopefully he’ll have The Eternal Buzz out into the world by then as well.
