Huge news for Amber Lawrence fans: the fast-rising country star will tour with ‘80s legends Go West and Nik Kershaw on the first few shows of their national tour – which kicks off tomorrow.
As she revealed on social media this morning (March 4), Lawrence will open for the tour’s stops in Adelaide (Kaurna), Brisbane (Meanjin) and Perth (Boorloo), starting at The Gov in the formermost city tomorrow night (March 5). The Meanjin date is then slated for this Wednesday (March 6) at The Tivoli, with the Boorloo show locked in for next Wednesday (March 13) at the Astor Theatre. All tickets for these three shows are sold out.
The tour itself will also hit the Metro Theatre in Sydney (Eora) this Thursday (March 7), followed by the Odeon Theatre in Hobart (nipaluna) on Saturday March 9, and two Melbourne (Naarm) shows – one at the Northcote Theatre on Sunday March 10, then one at the Palais Theatre on Monday March 11. Then, following the Boorloo show, Go West and Nik Kershaw will perform second gigs in Meanjin (Saturday March 16 at the Princess Theatre) and Eora (Sunday March 17 at the City Recital Hall).
Head here to find remaining tickets for the other shows.
“The last time we were in Australia was just before the pandemic,” Go West said in a joint press statement, “so this tour is long overdue. We always enjoy playing across Australia and it will be extra special this year as we tour alongside our mate, Nik Kershaw. We look forward to seeing you all in March 2024!”
The excitement was shared by Kershaw, who added in a statement of his own: “[I’m] looking forward to getting back to Australia after so many years. We always have such a good time playing across the country. See you all in March next year!”
Meanwhile, Lawrence returned to the spotlight last month when she released her first new tune for the year, an emotional jaunt called 5 Years Of You. In announcing its release, she described the track as her “heartfelt, self-penned song about my five-year-old starting school, and all of the emotions that go with life’s changes and big milestones”.
It followed her sole release for 2023: the standalone single Live A Country Song, for which Countrytown premiered the official music video.
