Country trio Hinterland have taken the opportunity of the new year to announce their split. In a surprise move, the band posted on social media:
“We would like to share the news that our journey as Hinterland has come to an end. We have all shifted our focuses to other projects. The past few years have been such an incredible ride! We would like to thank everyone behind the scenes who helped us along the way. We would also like to thank every Festival we played and every radio station who played our music.
“Most importantly, a huge thank you to all of YOU for your unconditional love and support - you make it all the more fun! We are so proud of the music we created together and hope you will continue to enjoy listening to it nice and LOUD!”
The band emerged in 2020 just as the COVID pandemic hit, with their debut single In The Hinterland hitting the top 20 of the Countrytown charts. Subsequent singles including Loud, Treating Me Good and Giddy Up also rode high in the radio charts while the band played Groundwater Festival, Savannah In The Round, Tamworth and more.
In mid-2023 it was discovered that the band’s song Stay In Your Lane was going viral with line dancing schools across the world, showing the band’s global resonance. Not band for a band who were only around for three short years in the middle of a pandemic.
Members Jesse Emmanuel and Rachel Bostock continue to play together as the Daisy Dukes while guitarist Robbie Bostock put out a solo EP in 2023, Explorations. Emmanuel is also a sought-after songwriter, co-writing for numerous Australian artists including Let Me Be with Taylor Moss.
No word on any other new projects on the horizon, but we’ll be sure to keep you posted as the band’s members find their new paths into 2024.
