Rockhampton-based country singer Denvah will appear on our television screens next week, with the rising star auditioning for Australian Idol.

Denvah shared a picture of herself as a child alongside a Channel 7 image that read, “I AUDITIONED!” In the caption, she wrote on social media yesterday (2 February), “This lil chicky did something cheeky. Watch Australian Idol Monday 5th of Feb at 7:30 pm on Seven and 7+ to catch all the shenanigans”.

Fans saw her appear in the first trailer for season nine in November, and KIX Country let the wider Australian country music community know – just in case anyone missed it.

Keen fans also spotted Dylan Wright (from the duo Sons Of Atticus) in the trailer, while the series, which returned last week, has already starred country singer Billy Menhennet, who auditioned with Zach Bryan’s Something In The Orange. You can watch him perform below.

KIX Country wrote at the time, “We may be a little biased, but we reckon they've got what it takes to be the NEXT AUSTRALIAN IDOL”.

The new season of Australian Idol stars returning hosts Ricki-Lee Coulter and Scott Tweedie and judges Marcia Hines, Kyle Sandilands and Amy Shark. You can read The Music’s recap of season nine, episode one, here.

In October, Denvah won the Groundwater Country Music Festival’s KIX-Start competition. Reacting to her win, she wrote on her Instagram Stories that she was “screaming, crying, throwing up” before thanking KIX Country and Groundwater Music Festival for the opportunity.

In August, Denvah won another significant award, taking home the NAB Gympie Music Muster Talent Search. The total prize for the Gympie Music Muster Talent Search winner is an estimated $22,000, which includes career-building opportunities, mentoring, music equipment and a trip to Nashville.

Denvah’s track For Elizabeth was named Countrytown’s Song Of The Day in 2021. The fourth single from her debut EP, Just The Beginning, she released the song at just 20 years old.

Australian Idol airs at 7:30 pm on Channel 7 and 7plus from Sunday to Wednesday.
