Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce are allegedly getting married this weekend.
There’s plenty of speculation floating around online, but nothing is confirmed, as the wedding – reportedly taking place at Madison Square Garden – is supposed to be “shrouded in secrecy.”
However, hints have emerged that the wedding is indeed taking place in the heart of New York City this weekend.
The BBC notes that close friends and associates of Swift’s, including producer Jack Antonoff, actress and writer Lena Dunham, and singer and actress Selena Gomez, turned up in New York on Thursday (2 July) or, in the latter’s case, shared a photo in fancy dress without mentioning an event.
EXTRA TV also shared video footage of SUVs arriving at Madison Square Garden on Thursday, reportedly for the wedding.
Streets in New York will reportedly be closed this weekend, and there aren’t many people who can command that kind of request, especially on the 4th of July weekend – and America’s 250th anniversary. Plus, the US is the home of this year’s FIFA World Cup, so if the rumours are indeed true, it’s pretty much only Swift’s wedding that could shut down the streets.
Of course, speculation has also alleged that the pair have already gotten married, and this weekend in New York, at Madison Square Garden, is a celebration.
The Guardian, reporting on claims made by Page Six, also notes that Stevie Nicks and Tim McGraw are rumoured to perform at the wedding. However, Paul McCartney and Ed Sheeran are also mentioned in rumours, so who knows what could happen?
The Guardian also reported that guests have only been told to be “in New York City” on Friday, 3 July and have likely signed non-disclosure agreements.
Elsewhere, the New York Times reported that Swift and Kelce will host an “intimate gathering” of 100 people on Thursday – perhaps a wedding rehearsal – followed by a bombastic celebration on Friday. Reports also suggest that a castle is being assembled inside Madison Square Garden.
So, as we said above, there are plenty of rumours and an abundance of. Still, until we see pictures of the happy couple or either of them addressing the speculation, we’re cautious about believing anything right now.
