It was a night of gender reveals, wedding proposals and shoeys last night as around 13,000 punters descended on Brisbane Entertainment Centre for the first Australian show from superstar Luke Combs.
Towards the end of the epic set, Combs spotted a balloon and sign in the crowd. The happy punter asked him to help with her gender reveal, with Combs saying it was the “first time” a fan had handed him a balloon.
Awkwardly, the excited fan said she was hoping for a boy.
“But you’d be happy with either, right?” Combs said before using his teeth to pop the black balloon to reveal pink confetti.
The Fast Car hitmaker didn’t disappoint, nor did the hyped-up Brisbane audience, with a waterfall of shoeys descending on the crowd before Combs took the stage.
Countrytown counted no less than two dozen punters standing on their chairs to down drinks from their shoes. Should Combs have taken another five minutes to start his set, it’s likely that no shoe would have been safe.
But despite the sideshows, nothing could top music as the big man rolled through his catalogue of hits. If you’ve got tickets for the rest of his sold-out shows, you’re in for a treat.
The Kind of Love We Make, She Got The Best Of Me, 1, 2 Many and Beautiful Crazy were all highlights, but you’d be hard-pressed to hear a crowd more excited than for Beer Never Broke My Heart.
Countrytown reviewer Liv Dunford called the show “magic” and discovered how quickly Luke Combs could wrap an audience around his fingers. You can read our live review here.
The tour continues with another show tonight in Brisbane before visiting Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth. All of the shows are sold out.
