Last month, the Country Music Association of Australia (CMAA) announced the return of the CMAA Achiever Awards. Yesterday, the winners were revealed.
The Achiever Awards are described as “non-competitive acknowledgements of individuals or groups” who have contributed significantly to Australian country music – they can be contemporary or legacy artists – and are split into two categories. They are:
Legacy Artists: awards handed out to figures who have contributed to the country music industry in Australia for over 30 years.
Contemporary Artists: awards handed out to figures who have excelled at a high level or contributed significantly to the country music industry in Australia over the last twelve months.
Bringing forward the winners’ announcement by a day—initially scheduled for today—the winners were revealed yesterday (15 November).
Legacy award winners included Graeme Connors and Lawrie Minson, among others, while Contemporary award winners included Piper Butcher—who stars on this week’s Grass Roots program on ABC Country—and Cheryl Brown.
You can find the complete list of winners below.
While the winners were announced yesterday, the acknowledgements will be presented during an official ceremony next Saturday, 23 November, at JMC Academy in Sydney. The night will feature the award ceremony, performances, and an Industry Symposium hosted by CMAA.
The symposium will host moderated panels and Q&As in the afternoon, hours before the award ceremony.
You can purchase tickets here if you’d like to attend the event.
