On Saturday night in Hartford, Connecticut, Jason Aldean stopped mid-song after suffering from heat stroke. Aldean was in the middle of performing his 2009 hit, Crazy Town when he ran off the stage.
The venue, Xfinity Theatre, posted on Instagram, “Jason has become ill and can’t continue the show. We are in the process of attempting to reschedule the performance.”
They later added, “Yesterday’s Jason Aldean show will be rescheduled for a future date. We appreciate your patience as we work on rescheduling a new date, as well as the outpouring of well wishes for Jason. A rep has confirmed he is now doing well after experiencing heat stroke during last night’s performance.”
A video of the incident, shared by KLTV 7 News, shows Aldean clearly struggling before exiting the stage, as his band plays on. According to the National Weather Service, the temperature in Connecticut reached a high of 88 degrees Fahrenheit, which is approximately 31 degrees Celsius – with Aldean dressed in blue jeans, boots and cowboy hat, and was singing under stage lights.
“I’ve had a lot of people check in on me today after hearing about what happened last night at the show in Connecticut,” Aldean tweeted. “I’m doing fine. It’s just one of those things – it was hot, I was playing golf all day yesterday… I think it was a combination of dehydration and heat exhaustion.”
Aldean also explained that he has been treated with IVs since then.
Additionally, Aldean was hit by a hat thrown on stage by a fan, the latest in a string of incidents of artists getting hit by items thrown onstage while performing. Morgan Wallen was hit by a boot, Kelsea Ballerini left the stage after being struck in the face by a bracelet, American pop singer Bebe Rexha was rushed off the stage after a phone was hurled at her face, US pop star Ava Max was slapped on stage and Lil Nas X was hit by a sex toy.
Aldean is currently on his Highway Desperado tour. The 39-city headlining tour makes stops across the U.S. in Atlanta, Charlotte, Phoenix and more before wrapping up in Tampa at MIDFLORIDA Credit Union Amphitheatre on October 28. Mitchell Tenpenny serves as direct support for Aldean, alongside openers Corey Kent and DJ Silver.
