The Netflix hit series, Ransom Canyon, is already popular with country music lovers thanks to its neo-Western romance and competing ranching families leading the storyline.
For its second season, however, which premiered on Thursday (23 July), the showrunners upped the ante by bringing two country music icons into the fold.
Singers Jordan Davis and Thomas Rhett appear as themselves on Ransom Canyon season two, both appearing at the main character, Quinn O’Grady’s, music festival, No Place Like Home. Rhett performs his fan favourite track, Boots, and Davis performs his hit single, Bar None.
Plus, the pair join forces to perform their signature duet, Ain’t A Bad Life. You can watch a deleted scene – a backstage clip with Davis and Rhett – here.
Rhett previously appeared in the series’ Nashville and The Ranch, while Davis makes his screen debut on Ransom Canyon.
The series’ creator, April Blair, said of the singers’ appearances on Ransom Canyon, “Thomas and Jordan responded to the story of Quinn throwing this to save the small town.”
Minka Kelly, who plays Quinn O’Grady, added, “They were so sweet, humble, down to play, and it just fit the vibe perfectly.”
Ransom Canyon season two is now playing on Netflix.
Earlier this month, Jordan Davis presented his friend, Thomas Rhett, as the latest recipient of a star on the Music City Walk of Fame.
Rhett reflected on seeing his name alongside other music icons on the Music City Walk of Fame, saying he’s felt “undeserving” yet “super honoured.”
“Alan Jackson, Bobby Bare, Jimmy Buffett, Jimi Hendrix, Luke Combs, Dierks Bentley, Marty Stewart, I mean just all over the place, man,” he told the media.
“I think ‘undeserving’ is sort of a word that comes to my mind, because in some ways it does feel like I’ve been doing this for 15 years. In other ways it feels like I started doing it yesterday, and so I know that a lot of people get to vote on this stuff, and so I just feel super honoured to be the 113th. This is a very, very special day for me.”
