Looks like her Dry Spell is over! Kacey Musgraves has unveiled the surprisingly spicy music video for her hit single, Mexico Honey, itself already a sexy karaoke bar jam.
The track is a surprise hit from her latest album, Middle of Nowhere, as it wasn’t initially released as a single. However, the song is climbing up the Billboard Hot 100, currently charting at #59. It’s also the album’s most-streamed tune since its release in May.
Set in a karaoke bar, this is the second time that Musgraves has sung to her own song in a clip, with 2018’s High Horse taking a similar narrative, but Mexico Honey dials the vibes up to 11. In the video, Musgraves wears the hot pink shorts mentioned in the lyrics while she forms a relationship with a man from the bar.
Together, the pair look to have an intimate time, including, again, a reference to the song’s lyrics with Musgraves “shaking my ass” as the man is “laying down laughing on the bathroom floor.”
Blending intense romance with stunning spots in nature, People reports that the Mexico Honey music video was filmed in Mexico and directed by Running Bear, the creative duo comprising Alexa Stone and Stephen Kinigopoulos.

On Tuesday (21 July), it was announced that Kacey Musgraves, along with Kane Brown, will headline Australia’s newest country music festival, LONGHAUL. Mexico Honey is likely to feature prominently in Musgraves’ set when she heads Down Under in January.
The festival is taking over the Melbourne Showgrounds on Friday, 22 January, Sydney Showground on Saturday, 23 January, and Brisbane RNA Showgrounds on Sunday, 24 January. Ticketing information can be found here.

“We don’t linger in these transitional, empty spaces long enough and rush to define where or whatever is next.”
Middle of Nowhere, Musgraves’ seventh album, found her collaborating with peers such as Willie Nelson, Miranda Lambert, Steph Jones, Billy Strings, Gregory Alan Isakov, and others.
