Lainey Wilson Adds Second Shows In Sydney & Melbourne Due To Demand

November 10, 2023 12:00 am in by

2023 has been the year of Lainey Wilson, with her Bell Bottom Country single Watermelon Moonshine taking over country music charts in the US and Canada and collaborative tracks with Jelly Roll (Save Me) and HARDY (Wait In The Truck) increasing her dominance.

Yesterday, it was proved just how significant Wilson’s voice in country music is, with the singer taking home five awards out of her nine nominated appearances at the CMA Awards.

She won the coveted Entertainer Of The Year award, as well as Female Vocalist Of The Year, Album Of The Year (for Bell Bottom Country), Musical Event Of The Year and Video Of The Year (both for Wait In The Truck with HARDY).

Taking to Instagram after her win, Wilson wrote, “The ride just keeps getting wilder. Country music has wrapped its arms around me in ways I could’ve never imagined. This is the dream y’all. It all feels so divinely lead. From the bottom of my heart, thank you, thank you, thank you.”

Next March, Wilson will make her debut appearance on Australian shores, headlining the 2024 edition of CMC Rocks and performing sideshows in Melbourne and Sydney. CMC Rocks sold out within a week, and her sideshows were met with phenomenal demand, with promoters Frontier Touring announcing additional dates to Wilson’s upcoming tour.

After pre-sale allocation to her sideshows was exhausted immediately, promoters saw fit to add extra shows. Wilson will now perform at Melbourne’s Margaret Court Arena on Wednesday, 20 and Thursday, 21 March, and Sydney’s Hordern Pavilion on Friday, 22 and Sunday, 24 March.

Tickets to the new shows (21 and 24 March) go on sale on Monday, 13 November, at 2 pm local time via the Frontier Touring website. Wilson will be joined by special guests Jackson Dean and Kameron Marlowe.

Earlier this year, Countrytown caught up with Wilson after she won the Rulebreaker Award at the Billboard Women In Music Awards

“The Rulebreaker award, to me, means that I've gone against the grain and done things how I want to do them, kept my blinders on and didn't worry about what everybody's doing on either side of me,” she explained. “You know, I have a really hard time being anything other than myself.

"I didn't even realise that I was breaking the rules, but I guess we were. And it feels like all that hard work starts to pay off.”
