Luke Bryan is preparing to release a new album, and in excellent news for fans, the wait won’t be too long.

Bryan’s eighth album, Mind Of A Country Boy, will be released on Friday, 27 September. Today, he released a new song, Closing Time In California, the follow-up to the recently released single Love You, Miss You, Mean It.

Mind Of A Country Boy comes four years after Bryan’s previous album, Born Here, Live Here, Die Here. The new LP is a culmination of everything that makes Luke Bryan, Luke Bryan: country music, fishing, hunting, and life with his family.

“I’ve been able to take my time and really compile songs for this album,” Bryan explained in a press release. “If it’s a song that I cut two or three years ago, and I still love it, and it still sounds fresh, then I feel like it’ll stand the test of time.”

He continued, “I think this album, as I’ve tried to do with all my albums, just has a little bit of everything. I do some things different vocally on this one that I’ve not done before. It’s about each song having its place and having its meaning. It’s trying not to be overly redundant with songs. I think that’s why I’ve been blessed to have a long career and what I feel like this album’s going to do.”

Adding that he still has “a lot of fun” playing his shows (he calls them a “big ole party”), Bryan said: “I think as you grow older and mature, subject matters change and things that you can sing about change. But the love of trying to find the right song and a song that moves people is still at the forefront of what I want to do as an artist.”

On Wednesday, 21 August, Luke Bryan will receive the ACM Lifting Lives Award. As well as music, Bryan is a major supporter of the Williamson Medical Center in Franklin, Tennessee – so much so that a new wing at the hospital has been named after him, his wife Caroline, and the Brett Boyer Foundation.
