Maren Morris has shared a major hint about her forthcoming EP, Intermission, which drops tomorrow (2 August).

Sharing the lyrics to one of the songs on the release, This Is How A Woman Leaves, the American singer-songwriter has taken a swipe at her ex-husband, fellow country singer Ryan Hurd, after they reached a divorce settlement earlier this year.

Maren Morris and Ryan Hurd reached a divorce agreement after Morris filed in October. They agreed on all issues surrounding their divorce, with the former couple signing notarized documents on 28 December and 4 January, respectively.

Already, fans on social media are commenting that the final line on the yet-to-be-released heartbreaker is the best lyric Morris has ever written. The line in question? “You have the nerve to ask why I’m not crying/ I did all my crying next to you.”

Elsewhere, the song finds a woman hurt but unafraid to move on, with lines such as “I don’t have to prove to you that I was so good to you/ maybe that’s why this is hard for you” and “This is how a woman leaves, even though it’s killing me/ I’ll make it look so easy that even I believe me.”

Morris has also dropped a teaser for the song Push Me Over, which may just receive the music video treatment. You can check out the teasers below.

Maren Morris kickstarted the Intermission campaign with the single Cut! featuring Julia Michaels.

As to what the EP will sound like, that’s unsure. What we do know, however, is that it likely won’t be entirely country, as Morris revealed her plans to leave country music in September last year. She cited the sociopolitical divide between country music artists and their fans, which she said has become a miserable hurdle that began “after the Trump years.”

Last month, Morris opted to celebrate Pride Month by coming out as bisexual.

“Happy to be the B in LGBTQ+,” her post read. “Happy pride.”

She made headlines again this week after sharing an Instagram Story where she wore a t-shirt that said, “Queer since birth.”
