Morgan Evans Breaks Gympie Music Muster Attendance Record

August 27, 2023 11:20 pm in by

According to a social media post from Australian country music star Morgan Evans, the attendance record was broken at the 2023 Gympie Music Muster as thousands of punters poured in to see the All Right Here singer.

The impressive feat was achieved despite a huge act like Wolfmother abruptly cancelling their appearance on Saturday (26 August) - just one day before their headlining performance was due to take place. Gympie Music Muster organisers took a punt on up-and-comers Million Johnnys, who took over the Boss Hire Blues Bar at 8:15 pm on Sunday.

“Last night we broke the attendance record at one of Australia’s longest running Music Festivals and had the time of our lives doing it,” Evans wrote on Instagram yesterday (27 August). “The love you guys are showing us out here is overwhelming”.

The 2023 Gympie Music Muster occurred from Thursday, 24 August, until Sunday, 27 August, in the northern Queensland city of Amamoor.

This year’s event hosted over 100 country, blues, folk and Americana acts, including Busby Marou, Felicity Urquhart & Josh Cunningham, Kasey Chambers, Travis Collins, Casey Barnes, Hoodoo Gurus, Melinda Schneider and The Screaming Jets on Thursday and Friday.

Saturday was led by Adam Brand, Gina Jeffreys, the one and only Morgan Evans, and Troy Cassar-Daley. Lastly, Sunday was propelled by Brooke McClymont & Adam Eckersley, Midland, Sara Stoner, and The Wolfe Brothers.

Morgan Evans’ popularity is booming in Australia, with the singer adding the third and final Newcastle show to his Life Upside Down tour earlier this month.

The new addition follows an already-announced whopping 13 shows in Australia and New Zealand, with special guest James Johnston joining him on all dates, excluding the Sydney Opera House.

Evans’ Life Upside Down Australian tour begins on Thursday, 31 August, at Brisbane’s Fortitude Music Hall. You can find all the tour dates below and purchase last-minute tickets via Frontier Touring.
