Morgan Wallen has addressed growing backlash following the sudden cancellation of his Pennsylvania concert, taking to Instagram Stories to shut down what he called “nonsense” rumours surrounding the decision.
The country star’s Pittsburgh show was cancelled just hours before he was due to take the stage, with organisers citing severe weather conditions and strong wind warnings as the primary reason.
Fans were notified on the day, with the announcement sparking frustration online as some attendees questioned the timing, particularly as conditions in the city later appeared to improve.
In his Instagram statement, Wallen said the decision was made after consultation with his team and local officials, emphasising that it was based on safety concerns for both fans and crew.
He explained that the potential wind conditions posed a serious risk given the scale of his stage production, stating that under those circumstances it “could become fatal” and that he ultimately trusted the advice he was given.
Wallen also pushed back against speculation circulating online, saying he had been seeing “a lot of nonsense” that was not true, and that he wanted to “clear the air” directly with fans. He added that while he understood the frustration, safety remained the priority in making the call.
The cancellation comes during a busy touring period for Wallen, with his current run of stadium shows drawing large crowds across North America. Despite the controversy surrounding the decision, he reiterated his appreciation for fans and their support, acknowledging the disappointment while standing by the reasoning behind the cancellation.
