Recording and filming for the Abbey Road Sessions took place in December, with Wallen performing five songs from One Thing At A TimeThinkin’ Bout Me, Sunrise, Everything I Love, I Wrote The Book, and I Deserve A Drink – as well as the previously unreleased Lies, Lies, Lies and a cover of Nothing But ThievesGraveyard Whistling.

In a statement, Wallen said about the surprise release (via Rolling Stone), “Playing the O2 in London last fall and getting to record at Abbey Road, where so much iconic music has been made, was legendary for me and my band. We will never forget it.

“I’m so excited to release these Abbey Road Sessions for my fans on the first anniversary of One Thing At A Time. They make all this possible.”

Wallen premiered Lies, Lies, Lies at an intimate Nashville show with ERNEST and HARDY just a few weeks ago.

In video footage shared on the Country Cast Instagram account, the unreleased track is played on acoustic guitar, and Wallen harmonises with his friends mentioned above.

Lies, Lies, Lies is a bit of a throwback to Wallen’s most traditional numbers: heartbreak and relatability bathed in charisma and yearning for country music storytelling.

In other Morgan Wallen news, the singer recently (accidentally?) dropped a surprise new trackI Had Some Help. He tagged Post Malone, ERNEST and producer Charlie Handsome, but the song was deleted almost as quickly as it appeared. The unreleased track was later posted on YouTube.

Earlier this year, Wallen teased another new mystery song where he sang, “I guess I’m the problem/ You’re miss never do no wrong/ If I’m so awful, then why’d you stick around this long? And if it’s the whiskey, then why do you keep on pullin’ it off the shelf? You hate that when you look at me/ You halfway see yourself”.
