O’Shea To Return Home For Queensland’s Big Skies Festival & Mount Isa Rodeo

Nashville-based married duo, O’Shea are returning home to perform at Big Skies Festival in Jimbour East Queensland.

The award-winning festival is back in 2023, promising to be bigger and better. Other artists on the all-Australian line-up include Eskimo Joe, The Angels, Diesel, Baby Animals, Thirsty Merc, Rogue Traders, Aloud Out, Sabrina Durante and Katelann Maree.

Set at historic Jimbour House across Saturday, September 30 and Sunday, October 1, Big Skies is your one-stop festival shop featuring unique Western Downs experiences from a beautiful long lunch, sunset dinner, historic Jimbour House tours, camp kitchen feasts and the best live music.

Set around 3 hours west of Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast, those who buy a 2-day pass will receive complimentary camping at Jandowae Showgrounds from 28 September to 8 October 2023 as part of their CMCA Rally offer. More information can be found here.

Additionally, O’Shea have been announced as part of the 2023 Mount Isa Rodeo Festival. This year’s program will span a mighty nine days over August 5-13, with six separate events being held to celebrate the mining town’s 100th anniversary.

Other artists on the line-up include Daryl Braithwaite, Jessica Mauboy, The Angels, The Screaming Jets, Luke Geiger, Furnace and the Fundamentals, and cultural performance by the Sundowners Kalkutungu Dancers and the Komet Torres Strait Islander Arts and Culture Dance Group.

In a press statement, Isa Rodeo Limited CEO Natalie Flecker highlighted the rodeo’s significance in Mount Isa: “This year Mount Isa marks its 100th anniversary,” she said, “and for 64 of those years, the rodeo has been a highlight; a major event that brings together the city, the region and more recently, the country.

Comprised of Mark and Jay O’Shea, the festivals mark the duo’s first Australian shows since their 2022 tour in support of their fifth studio album, Neon Soul, which peaked at #26 on the ARIA Top 50 Albums Chart.

It followed 61-615, which received a ‘Best Country Album’ nomination at the 2017 ARIA Music Awards. Together, O’Shea have 7 Golden Guitars on their mantle, clocked up more than 11 number ones on the Aussie charts and have their own TV show O’SHEA USA. Individually, they have toured with the likes of INXS, Keith Urban, John Farnham, Hall & Oates, Jimmy Barnes and more.

Mark is originally from Dalby, Queensland, while Jay grew up in Adelaide. They relocated to Nashville in 2007, working initially as songwriters. For now, Franklin, Tennessee is home.
