Canadian trio Petric are busier than ever, having dropped a new single with Australian-based singer Christie Lamb and touring Australia at the tail end of 2023. They are now promoting their new EP, yet somehow, the band managed to squeeze in some extra time to give us one of their esteemed cover songs.
Having previously tinkered with Michael Jackson’s Billie Jean and Ed Sheeran’s Castle On The Hill, it seems Tina Turner’s 1989 hit, (Simply) The Best, will be the next to receive the cover treatment.
A video was posted yesterday to the band’s socials and shows lead singer Tom Petric belting the song in a recording studio, leaving fans to speculate if the cover will make it to the new self-titled EP.
“Amazing vocals, I love this version better than the original!” Said one fan via Instagram.
The band made it official not long after the snippet that The Best would be featured on the EP, along with the singles Over A Girl and Wheels.
The band have announced that the cover song will hit the radio on April 30th, so you can tune into a bit of country-meets-80s on your drive.
Petric’s new EP will be released on Monday, April 15th. It features production, mixing, and engineering from Chris Baseford (Nickelback, Avril Lavigne, Motley Crue) and mastering by Allen Hunnie (Loverboy, Streetheart).
The EP will be available on all major streaming platforms and the band’s online store.
On their track, Single Problem with Christie Lamb, Jason Petric commented, “Single Problem has always had a special place in our hearts. It was one of our biggest charting hits in Canada a couple of years ago. Having the opportunity to take a fresh approach to the song and collaborate with Christie has felt really great. Her voice is beautiful, and we love the way this track has turned out.”
