Fresh off the back of a series of productive and well-received appearances at Nashville’s CMA Fest, rising Asian-American country artist Bella Lam is heading bootfirst into the US summer with her aptly-titled new single, Bootfirst.
The single – which was penned by Lam alongside Jessica Cayne and Kayliann Lowe, and features production by Lowell Reynolds – was recorded at Nashville’s Blackbird Studio, and is a spirited summer anthem which speaks to maintaining a spontaneous attitude toward life, and diving straight into the unknown without overthinking it.
“Just going all in, with no in-between,” Lam said upon the single’s announcement. “I think everyone has experienced that feeling at some point, and I hope this song brings people together in that way.”
Indeed, the track is an anthemic piece of work packed with a cathartic chorus and sizzling guitar solo that keeps the energy going. As Lam herself says, it’s a song which she hopes to be used as a source of inspiration for anyone unsure of how to approach the curveballs or uncertainty life offers.
"I hope Bootfirst inspires people to say yes to the things that scare them a little,” Lam tells The Music. “Life moves fast, and sometimes the best thing you can do is stop overthinking and dive in bootfirst."
Bootfirst is the latest track to be released by Lam this year, who made a strong debut a few years back, before setting up a strong run of singles thanks to 2025’s Tears In My Tequila, and February’s Take It Out On My Guitar.
Since then, she's been named one of the country artists you need to know for 2026, and has been dubbed "one of the fastest-rising emerging voices in country music." Just this month, she descended upon Nashville for a series of performances during CMA Music Festival week, asking attendees all about their own Bootfirst moments.
Lam has just kicked off a run of summer tour dates throughout the southern US, and will be performing regularly until the end of August, by which time fans will certainly have learned how to dive into life Bootfirst.
