On Saturday (29 July), Moreton Bay singer Cassi Marie was forced to suddenly cancel her gig at the Caboolture Sports Club after being admitted into hospital with an emergency.

The Long Way Down singer couldn’t provide many details over the weekend – understandably so! – but yesterday, she gave an update on social media after receiving many worried messages from fans.

“I’ll be completely honest, I’m not really okay at the moment, but I am doing better than I was on Saturday,” she began. “I have been quite unwell for almost a year now with varying symptoms. I’ve had lots of tests done but still, after almost 10 months of being in pain, losing a lot of weight, feeling very fatigued and so many other things, I still have no diagnosis.”

Detailing her health battle, Marie revealed that she was unable to eat properly for a week before her admittance to the hospital and that Saturday’s hospital stay was followed by a visit on Tuesday when she experienced severe abdominal pain.

“The doctor sent me home telling me I just had indigestion - which I knew was not the case,” she wrote. “I started to feel a little better, but then on Saturday afternoon, the pains got even worse, accompanied by intense nausea, so I went back to the hospital.”

Marie continued, “This time, I saw an amazing Doctor who actually listened to what I have to say and is fast tracking me for all the tests I have been waiting MONTHS for.

“I think I am finally getting closer to finding out what is wrong. The doctor is pretty certain she knows what it is, but we will get confirmation after these next tests.

“I’ll keep you guys updated with how I’m going, but right now I am just taking it easy. Thank you so much for all the lovely messages”.

Countrytown wishes Cassi Marie all the best, and on behalf of our incredibly supportive community, we’re behind her as she chases a diagnosis and recovery.

In August 2022, Countrytown shared a music video premiere of Cassi Marie’s track, Starving Heart. Inspired by the likes of Missy Higgins and Kasey Chambers, Marie said the song was about “Someone who struggles to let love into their heart and finds it easier to run than to let themselves be loved.”
