After dropping his aptly roaring new single – literally titled Roar – last Friday, Sorensen has returned today (September 22) with the official music video.
The clip was filed in collaboration with Matt Stone Racing – famous for their role in the legendary Supercars Championship – who have adopted Roar as somewhat of an anthem. In a statement shared with Countrytown, Sorensen himself said the partnership came from his idea for the video, having “approached the team” to “see if they would be interested in collaborating with me on a video project”.
He explained: “I sent the song to them, they listened and loved it. The bulk of the film clip was based at their Yatala workshop, with some other footage at their test day at Queensland Raceway. The team were excited to use the video as promotion for their team leading into the biggest events of the year, the Sandown 500 and Bathurst 1000. It was great to be a part of the team during the filming of this video.”

As for the song itself, Sorensen noted he’s “been a fan of motorsport for many years”, gushing over “the thrill of being at the track, watching these machines being driven with precision and to the limits”. He said of the inspiration he gleaned from motorsport: “I wanted to make this song uptempo with a driving beat, and lyrically drawing on all the things that I love about motorsport.”
Roar comes as the lead single from Sorensen’s upcoming debut album, which is set to make impact in 2024. A national tour will precede it later this year, though, rolling right up to the planned release – keep an eye on Sorensen’s Facebook page for more updates.
