As Australia’s country capital readies itself for the Tamworth Country Music Festival this January, it’s not all local acts on the bill, with the event set to host the inaugural edition of the Great Canadian Roadtrip Down Under.
Presented by Toronto-based multi-service agency Strut Entertainment and boutique artist-led independent label SkySong Records, the one-night event takes place on January 21st at the Capitol Theatre, and aims to celebrate the growing musical connection between Canada and Australia.
Leading the evening's entertainment is Dan Davidson, who is fresh off announcing his Aussie return as part of Savannah In The Round this October. Davidson is also a co-founder of Skysong Records, having launched the label alongside The Road Hammers' Clayton Bellamy, who also joins the bill as a JUNO Award and six-time CCMA Award-winner thanks to his myriad musical efforts over the years.
Underlining the connection between Canada and Australia, INXS co-founder and songwriter Andrew Farriss serves as local representation for the event. Having contributed to record sales of more than 70 million globally, Farriss made his Grand Ole Opry debut back in 2024, and this Friday will release his new album, The Prospector.
Rounding out the evening's entertainment is Toronto-based singer-songwriter Jessica Sevier, who makes her Australian debut, fresh off the back of CMA Ontario Awards for Songwriter Of The Year and Breakthrough Artist.
