Tate McRae surprised fans with her country side on Tuesday (August 6), bringing out Megan Moroney for a stripped-back duet.
Pausing in the middle of her set at Ascend Amphitheater in Nashville, McRae told the crowd, “I myself am a huge fan of country music. I’m so fucking excited to sing with the one and only… Megan Moroney. Give it up for Megan!”
Walking on stage with a blinged out guitar and knee high boots, Moroney was met with screams by the crowd. The pair sang Moroney’s Tennessee Orange, harmonising with each other beautifully.
McRae is currently on her Think Later tour, and is set to come to Australia this November.
This performance from Moroney comes just days after her massive set at Lollapalooza, and a year full of gigs. Her touring schedule has barely let up between the releases of Lucky and Am I Okay? She's spent several months out on the road in support of country heavyweight Kenny Chesney – meaning she's had to front up and perform to thousands upon thousands in stadiums, arenas and amphitheatres across the nation.
Speaking to Countrytown mere days before Lollapalooza, Moroney said, “I go into those shows with the mentality of winning the crowd over. I spent an entire summer practising to get 50,000 people's attention at once – which I truly think has made my headlining shows even better. I've learned a lot, and really grown as a performer.”
