One of the most highly anticipated country albums of the year is finally here. And it’s by an artist who couldn’t even be considered country this time last year. That’s right, Post Malone’s F-1 Trillion is officially on streaming services.
In May 2015, Post Malone only hinted at future plans to go country, writing on X (formerly known as Twitter), “WHEN I TURN 30 IM BECOMING A COUNTRY/FOLK SINGER.” And he did it… at age 29.
An album with an all-star roster of country royalty—special guest features include Dolly Parton, Brad Paisley, Luke Combs, Hank Williams Jr., Morgan Wallen, Tim McGraw, Lainey Wilson, Blake Shelton, Billy Strings, Jelly Roll, and Sierra Ferrell, with a couple more on the list—F-1 Trillion doesn’t only prove that Post has embraced country; he’s shown how much respect he has for the genre.
The album has numerous moods, from bluegrass to pop country to contemporary meets classic country. Post himself sounds great, moving through melodies with ease and letting out the rasp when it’s necessary.
The 18-track album is truly impressive, with the rapper-turned-country star trading harmonies with the world’s greatest country artists. Unafraid to share the spotlight, Post knows when to step back and let someone else showcase their talents and knows when to come back in.
They’re just this scribe’s thoughts after one listen to the album—said thoughts will deepen over time—but instead of showcasing just one opinion, why don’t we look at social media and see what Post Malone fans (and people listening out of curiosity) think of the album?
Over on the dedicated Post Malone Reddit page, F-1 Trillion has already been crowned Country Album of the Year in one fan’s heart, with the responses showing that he’s winning people over – including those who don’t typically listen to country music.
In another post, a fan declares that F-1 Trillion’s closer, Yours, is the best song on the album, especially for those who have daughters. It's a tune from the heart, for sure.
