Jolene’s Sydney, a country music bar and live music venue which brings the spirit of Nashville to Australia, has issued a notice to attendees about recent unpleasant fan behaviour.
“We’re a small family business - we already run on tight margins,” their social media post began. “In the past few short weeks, we have had the following happen in the venue.”
Recent incidents have included a light fitting getting ripped out of the men’s toilets on a Friday night, which tripped the fuse and sent the venue into darkness, with operators trying to turn the lights back on safely. Operators had to pay for the light fitting to be replaced on a Saturday.
In another unpleasant turn, a radio went missing from the venue, while six candle holders and eight menu holders were stolen.
After listing the recent incidents, the statement continued, “Y’all ask us for more live music. We would love to do it, but we can’t when we are constantly paying for stuff like this.”
“We’re not looking for sympathy, we just wanted to highlight that all we ask is that our guests respect the venue & our staff,” the venue operators said.
“If you respect us, we respect you. We WANT to give you all the best night possible; we want to be the venue where you create memories. Just please, think before you act.”
The Jolene’s Sydney team shared that they’ve been forced to “literally run down the street” to find patrons who attempted to steal from them. So now they’ll be submitting footage of incidents to the police and letting them handle things from there.
