Gosh dang, what a week it’s been for scorchin’ new country tunes! Not only were we blessed with spicy new releases from some of Australia’s finest up-and-comers, like Nathan Lamont (who just dropped I’m Calling Shotgun), Eloise Rayner (who went all out with Can You Still Feel Me Loving You?) and Adam Brand (whose new cut Gettin’ There is destined to be a hit), but the international heavyweights were out in full force: Morgan Wade came in guns blazing with her wicked new banger Moth To A Flame, for example, while Post Malone delivered another instant classic in the Blake Shelton-assisted Pour Me A Drink, and Lainey Wilson got her fans going absolutely mental with Out Of Oklahoma.
With all of that in mind, now seems like as good a time as any to remind you – or clue you in, if you didn’t know already – that we have our very own playlist dedicated to bringing you the best new music from all corners of the country music landscape, fittingly named Hot Country Hits Australia. We update it every Friday with more than a dozen of the brand new tracks we simply can’t get enough of, giving you the ultimate soundtrack to fuel your weekend.
You can listen to the Hot Country Hits Australia playlist on Spotify (here) and Apple Music (here) – and make sure to hit us up on Instagram or Facebook to let us know what songs you’ve been loving!
Here are just a few of our personal favourites from this week’s update to the playlist...
Maren Morris – cut! (ft. Julia Michaels)
WHAT SHE SAYS: “Can’t wait to cathartically scream f*ck at the top of our lungs together.”
Lainey Wilson – Out Of Oklahoma
WHAT SHE SAYS: “I’m beyond thrilled to be part of the Twisters soundtrack with Out Of Oklahoma. This song bridges the tender and emotional love of where we come from and where we’re going. I’m super excited for the film, it’s going to be epic!”
Andrew Farriss – Something Stronger
WHAT HE SAYS: “I wanted to record a song about grit and passion. ‘We drank cheap whisky burnin' down our teenage throats / A fire on the end of a hand-rolled smoke.’ These words capture the raw energy and recklessness of youth for many past and present – The deep yearning for something more intense... Something stronger.”
