Fresh from joining the 2026 line-up for BIGSOUND, Queensland’s own Tori Darke has unveiled her latest single of 2026, releasing Prettiest Wreck.
Arriving today, Prettiest Wreck stands tall as the most emotional cut in Darke’s eclectic country pop discography. Penned alongside The Wolfe Brothers while in Nashville, it’s an anthemic cut designed to be sung by every woman who has held it together on the outside while heartbreak cuts deep on the inside.
“I’ll be the prettiest wreck you’ve ever seen,” Darke asserts in the chorus, speaking to the difficulty of ensuring your heartbreak isn’t telegraphed in favour of maintaining a sense of defiant dignity.
Regardless, it’s a lyrical powerhouse which captures the visceral energy of a breakup, as she packs his things, takes his photos off the wall, and steps outside in her best dress, intent on portraying a positive façade.
“This song I wrote as a girls’ anthem, a song truly for the girls,” Darke says. “If you’ve ever had a broken heart and needed a song to scream at the top of your lungs, Prettiest Wreck is that song.”
The arrival of Prettiest Wreck follows on from the release of last month’s You Better Think, which serve as a testament to Darke’s intention of making sure 2026 is her year.
Fresh off the back of making her debut at Nashville's CMA Fest, she'll be heading to Country Jam USA in Eau Claire, Wisconsin next month, before performances in the UK in August, including at the Randy Houser-headlined Country Calling.
She'll be back in Australia soon after to appear at the Gympie Music Muster and this year's edition of BIGSOUND (promising all attendees that she’ll “be bringing some sassy country to the Valley”), before hitting up New South Wales’ Trundle Bush Tucker Day, and the Deni Ute Muster in October.
