On New Year’s Eve, Townsville will host a hoedown in the form of the Buck Wild Country Barn Sessions. Featuring music from Zac & George, Max Jackson, local star Josie and more, last night (10 October), the country music event added someone we know very well to the line-up: Bella Mackenzie.

“Introducing our final artist for Buck Wild Country Barn Sessions 2023 we are so excited to bring Bella Mackenzie to our stage New Years Eve,” festival organisers wrote on social media yesterday.

“Mackay country girl, Bella Mackenzie has captured the attention of Australia!! Bella was a finalist this year for Season 12 of 'The Voice Australia'.

The intimate Townsville festival also stars Charters Towers-based Billie Copeland, Katrina Burgoyne, Katie Brooke, and more. In addition to the already-announced artists, the Buck Wild Country Barn Sessions will host a busking stage – applications to score your place on stage are now open.

While plenty is happening in terms of music at Buck Wild, the event also offers line dancing with tropical boots, crafts and artisan booths, woodfire pizza, beer and even more.

Buck Wild is described as “A country music festival you won’t soon forget” and “dedicated to lovers of homegrown country twang”. You can purchase tickets to attend the Buck Wild Country Barn Sessions here.

Bella Mackenzie made it all the way to the semi-final of The Voice Australia before losing the final place on team Guy Sebastian to her teammate, Charlie Pittman.

Reflecting on her journey throughout the competition, Mackenzie wrote on Instagram, “My journey on The Voice Australia has come to an end but my music journey has just begun…

“Thank you so much Guy Sebastian for guiding me through this process and helping me not only grow as an artist but also as a young adult in this industry. I couldn’t be more grateful.”

She was the sole country singer to make it to the Semi-Final after Cohuna-based singer Dan Daniels and icons of the genre, The Bushwackers, were eliminated earlier throughout the season.
